StefaniePractice Manager Stefanie Hedding has been with Westarbor since June of 1994 and she's responsible for all facets of the operation of the hospital, from staffing, human resources, marketing, inventory and ensuring that we remain in compliance with American Animal Hospital Association standards of veterinary care. Stefanie is organized and committed to making sure that we provide the highest level of care for our clients and their pets.

"Westarbor is an exceptional place to work because we are constantly looking for new and improved methods of not only treating patients, but educating our clients," Stefanie said. "We have a staff of committed professionals who truly want to make a difference in the lives of our clients' pets."

Stefanie and her family have four dogs, Chloe, Danny, Snickers, and Gordon. They also have two cats, Laddie and Winnie, an Arabian horse named Bravo, an appendix horse named Hope, and a paint horse named Dakota.

Stefanie relaxes by going horseback riding as often as she can, and she enjoys running, gardening and camping with friends and family.

JeniferJenifer LaHuis is our head veterinary receptionist who joined the staff in July of 1999. She oversees all our customer service and staffing operations. "I love people and their animals," Jenifer said. Her main goal is "making lasting relationships with clients and their pets." Jenifer is understanding and compassionate by nature.

"I feel like we offer quality veterinary medicine to our patients beyond what is offered at other clinics," Jenifer said. "We treat clients and their pets the way we would want to be treated."

Jenifer has a mix of cats and dogs at home, including her two pugs, Boca and Oompa, her labrador, Lolly, and her cats FeFe, Jinkies and Chubbs Magoo. Jenifer is mother to two wonderful boys and she loves gardening.

Judy Licensed veterinary technician Judy Conley has been a member of the Westarbor team since 2006 and has been in the Veterinary field since 2002. She assists in surgery and with our outpatient services.

Judy graduated from Winthrop University in South Carolina in 1992 with a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration with a concentration in Marketing and from Stautzenberger College in Ohio in 2004 with a Associate of Applied Science in Veterinary Technology.

In practice, Judy enjoys tremendously working with Westarbor clients and their pets. Whether a medical condition or behavior challenge, she strives to bridge the gap of understanding to promote and strengthen the human-animal bond.

Judy is a member of the National Association of Veterinary Technicians, the Michigan Association of Veterinary Technicians and the Association of Veterinary Technician Educators. Judy is serving a six year appointment as a member of the American Veterinary Medical Association's Committee on Veterinary Technician Education and Activities. She has served on the executive board of and provided consulting services to the Michigan Association of Veterinary Technicians and has had committee presence with the Michigan Veterinary Medical Association regarding technician activities. As an adjunct instructor, Judy has taught a variety of topics in Veterinary Technology.

"I have spent time in a lot of practices both as a client and as a technician and the Westarbor team is just special," Judy said about our team.

Judy is married and has two cats, Gracie and Jake, and a Labrador named Cali. Judy and Cali are a certified therapy dog team through Therapy Dogs, Inc. and enjoy volunteering their time together.

MeghanMeghan Beck, a licensed veterinary technician, helps maintain our lab and dental records and assists with patient referrals. She's hardworking and very organized and has an associate's degree in applied science. Meghan has been working with us since July of 2007 and has been in the veterinary field for the past 12 years.

"Working at Westarbor Animal Hospital allows me to utilize my technical skills while working with people I really enjoy being around," Meghan said. "It's like a family with the same passion and interests."

Meghan shares her home with three cats, Slim Shady, Sid Vicious and Johnny Rotten, two dogs, Charlie and Mason, and a mini lop rabbit named Trucker. She relaxes by kayaking, running with her dogs and "reading anything I can get my hands on!"

JenniferLicensed veterinary assistant Jennifer Carlin has been with Westarbor since November of 2009. She maintains all our anesthetic equipment and spends part of her day working with our clients' pets, which includes taking x-rays, doing labwork, monitoring anesthesia, and taking blood samples.

"I get great satisfaction in finding new ways to make our patients more comfortable," Jennifer said. She has an associate's degree in applied science from the College of Southern Nevada. She is licensed in both Michigan and Nevada.

"The staff here is wonderful. It feels like everyone is part of a big family," said Jennifer. "Being smaller allows us to work well together."

Jennifer shares her home with Odin, a Maine coon cat, Mira, a tabby cat, and two dogs, MJ and Peter Parker. She enjoys doing anything outdoors, whether its gardening, bonfires, camping, fishing, boating, reading and baking anything sweet.

MaryMotivated by her love of helping animals and people, Mary Bates is a licensed veterinary technician with Westarbor Animal Hospital. She graduated from Baker College in Jackson, MI in 2012.

"Veterinary medicine is a field that continues to grow, so there are always new things to learn and new ways to do things, so it keeps it interesting!" she said. "I love to be involved with pre-, during, post-operative care for our patients. Making sure our patients and clients are comfortable is what makes my job so enjoyable."

Mary loves the outdoors and in her free time enjoys hiking, herpetology, and camping, as well as baking and cooking. She is passionate about conservation and preservation of local species, and would like to someday be involved in wildlife rescue. She has five pets: three cats (Leroy, Emmy, and Kitty) and two dogs (LuLu and Simon).

GaleGale Marcoux joined the team at Westarbor Animal Hospital in October of 2007 and her talents are multifaceted. She works as a client service specialist, a technician assistant, and greets our clients when they come into the practice. Gale has been in the veterinary field since 2003 and said one of her great joys is "working with people that love their pets" and she has what she calls "extreme pet passion."

Gale has a bachelor's degree from Ferris State University.

"Westarbor Animal Hospital offers quality medicine and care. It feels great to be part of a team that does excellent work," Gale said. "We care about our patients and their owners. We have a superb staff."

Gale is more than just a dog owner. Since 2001, she has been involved in the group Therapaws, a dog therapy association that takes pets into hospitals and nursing homes as a method of patient therapy.

Gale has also helped organize and facilitate several canine blood drives for Midwest Animal Blood Services an organization that has worked to provide quality non-human blood components to those animals in need nationwide. Several of Gale's own dogs serve as blood donors.

Gale lives with her husband Paul and their household of beloved pets, most of which were rescue animals. Their menagerie includes many dogs and cats as well as a few horses

CherCher Rusling is a customer care specialist who joined our staff in the fall of 2007 and oversees a variety of tasks at the hospital, including answering client calls, scheduling appointments – she's excellent at helping a client decide whether their pet needs immediate treatment or can wait – refilling prescriptions and making sure our patient medical records are updated.

Cher has a strong customer service background which is a great asset to the hospital because of the high level of service we provide our clients and their pets. She's lived in Ann Arbor since 1980.

"I like working at Westarbor Animal Hospital because I believe all of the staff members are truly caring people. We care deeply for our clients and our patients. In a sense we are like family, and all of the people and pets that come here are like our extended family," Cher said.

Cher has two adult cats named Shadow and Zoey. Her hobbies include walking in the woods, reading and listening to music as well as being an avid potter who has been a member of the Ann Arbor Potters Guild since 1999.

AlexAlex Reynolds, veterinarian assistant, joined Westarbor in September 2014. He wears many hats, from counting pills to holding pets for blood draws. Alex has a passion for exotic animals. He owns a Red Tail Boa named Angel and two Bearded Dragons, named Stubbs and Barb. He also has a calico cat named Puss In Boots and a beagle mix named Sophie. Alex's passion for pets goes back to his early childhood. That passion led him to attend and graduate from Ross Medical Education Center. Alex also enjoys disc golf and gardening.

Megan Chelsea Haney, Licensed Veterinary Technician joined the Westarbor staff October 2015. She is a graduate of Baker college in Jackson, Mi. As a young child, Chelsea knew veterinary medicine was her calling. Her passion for working with animals 'was a dream come true' when she became a Licensed Technician.

She has a Siberian Husky named Ayva and two cats named Baby Poof and Smokey. Chelsea believes in providing loving, personal care to both patient and owners. This level of excellence stems from her desire to spend time with her family, friends and pets.

Her other hobbies include horseback riding, camping, and kayaking. Westarbor is thrilled to have Chelsea on staff!

NicoleVeterinary technician Nicole Ballreich graduated from Michigan State University in 2010. A native of Ann Arbor, Nicole is glad to return to the area after several years in Lansing.

Becoming a veterinary technician was the natural choice for Nicole, who remembers playing "vet hospital" at the age of five. She brings years of experience and a can-do attitude to the position. Nicole's professional interests include orthopedics, anesthesia and emergency medicine.

Nicole married her husband Clayton in 2015. She has two dogs, Maverick and Asher, a cat, Binks, and a leopard gecko, Tango. She enjoys singing, acting and doing agility work with her dogs in her free time.

Jennifer Kierpaul, is the newest member of the Client Care team at Westarbor after joining the Westarbor family in September 2016. She has a Bachelor of Liberal Arts and Art History from Oakland University.

Jennifer's passion for animals crosses multiple species. She loves to feed birds and other wildlife.

Jennifer has a cat named Robin, two Red Miniature Pinschers named Penny and Marley, and a Chihuahua named Chibi. She says that any job that enables her to see animals all day is perfect for her.

Jennifer came from PetSmart and had multiple years of experience with animals and their families. She shares the commitment of the Westarbor team to provide the best possible care for our patients and families. Her enthusiasm for animal care blends perfectly with that of her teammates, Jennifer, Gale and Cher.

NicoleLicensed Veterinary Technician Jessie Schuh joined Westarbor's team of Licensed Veterinary Technicians in August 2016. Jessie is a graduate of Michigan State University and the College of Veterinary Medicine. She has been in veterinary medicine for over 10 years. Her passion for animals started at her family farm in Central Illinois. She started working at her vet's boarding kennel while in high school.

Jessie has an English Bulldog named Otis and two cats, Bart and Lisa. Otis is an accomplished therapy dog. Jessie and Otis work as a team for the R.E.A.D program(The Reading Education Assistance Dogs), which improves children's reading and communication skills by reading to a therapy animal. Jessie is committed to treating the patients at Westarbor with the same loving care she shows her own pets. Jessie rounds out the team of seven Licensed Veterinary Technicians at Westarbor.
