November is a month dedicated to gratitude. At Westarbor Animal Hospital, we don’t need a special occasion to be thankful for our pets. We love our animal companions throughout the year. Here are just a few of the reasons we have so much gratitude for these special creatures:

Pets Love Us Unconditionally (Most of the Time)

There is no feeling quite like coming home to a pet that is extremely excited to see you. Even notoriously independent cats bond with a certain human. On the worst of days, coming home to a loving pet can instantly improve your mood. In fact, pets can help ease loneliness, anxiety, and even make you more productive working from home. Unconditional love in a cute little package? Sign us up!

Pets Make Us More Active

Pets are not only good for our emotional health, but our physical health as well. Dogs need to be walked and cats need some physical stimulation. According to a study from BMC Public Health, people who own pets experience more moderate physical activity than those who don’t. Take advantage of your pet’s need for exercise to become more active in your own life. It will benefit both of you.

Pets Give Us Purpose

When you have a small little life depending on you, you have to get up daily and be responsible. Owning a pet adds a sense of purpose to your life that can help you get motivated to start your day. From feeding time to veterinary visits, pet ownership requires us to care about someone other than ourselves. Anyone can benefit from being more empathetic, especially when an animal is involved.

Pets Provide Hours of Entertainment

We don’t know about you, but quirky cats and active dogs will always capture our attention. From kitty parkour to playtime at the dog park, we love watching our pets live their best lives. With regular wellness visits and proper weight management, you can keep your pets healthier longer. This means even more time watching them adventure through life with a sense of wonder and joy.

Pets Are there When You Need Them

Pets seem to have an innate ability to know when we need a little extra love and affection. Have you ever noticed your pup sitting a little closer after a bad day? Does your cat cuddle up a little closer when you aren’t feeling your best? They might not fix all our problems, but they definitely make them a little easier to deal with. Special cuddles from your pet can help with anything from a breakup to a major loss.

The team at Westarbor Animal Hospital could go on for hours about all the reasons we are thankful for our pets. We are always happy to see your animals and are proud to partner with you to ensure they get the best care.
