Is there anything better than cuddling up with the ones you love during the holidays and watching a Christmas movie marathon? At Westarbor Animal Hospital, we love to find any way we can to incorporate our pets into our favorite activities. That’s why we’ve curated this list of Christmas movies with dogs that the whole family can enjoy this holiday season. Consider adding some of the following films to your movie rotation this year.

The Search for Santa Paws

The title says it all when it comes to this movie. Detailing the story of Santa Claus and his canine companion Santa Paws, this movie is fun for the whole family. “The Search for Santa Paws” shows how a pack of dogs, some magical elves, and a couple of cute kids can save Christmas when Santa goes missing after losing his memory. Your dogs will love being a part of the action, and the rest of your family will enjoy this cute escape from reality.

A Dog Named Christmas

This movie shows how much humans and animals can help each other just by being themselves. In “A Dog Named Christmas,” a developmentally disabled man works with animals in need and shows his family (and his community) how important it is to give back. This heartwarming tale will get you all into the holiday spirit. Just take note: you might want to keep a box of tissues nearby if you tend to tear up easily.

The Twelve Dogs of Christmas

In this film which takes place during the Great Depression, a young girl shows everyone the true meaning of Christmas with the help of some amazing canine companions. In a town where the mayor has completely banned dogs, this girl must prove to everyone how love (and some doggy kisses) can overcome everything.

A Charlie Brown Christmas

One of the most famous Christmas movies of all time, this animated classic from 1965 is still fun for the whole family. Your dog will love the shapes and colors (and the canine representation with Snoopy). Join Charlie and his pals as they search for the true meaning of Christmas. Whether you are reliving your childhood or watching it for the first time, this is a great holiday movie to add to your family marathon.

Elf

As Buddy the Elf says, “The best way to spread Christmas cheer is to scream it loud for all to hear.” Another great way is to gather your family together to watch “Elf” this holiday season. The bright colors and Christmas spirit of this film are enough to catch anyone’s attention. Cuddle up with your pup and get ready to remember the real meaning of the season with this Christmas classic.

Christmas Movie Marathon Preparation

When it comes to a Christmas movie marathon, coziness is key. Get some warm blankets, your dog’s favorite bed, and some human and canine-friendly snacks. Turn on the Christmas lights, and get ready to relax together into the best part of the holiday season.
